Directed by the incomparable Clint Eastwood, 'Millie' (as its affectionately known) is an unapologetic and visceral boxing drama that will leave you gasping for more. Based on the novel of the same name by author-activist Walter 'Wake' Nance Jr., this Oscar-winning film follows a young female fighter's journey from obscurity to stardom.

Starring Academy Award winners Hilary Swank as Maggie 'The Icicle' Fitzgerald and co-star Eastwood in his directorial debut, 'Million Dollar Baby' is an emotionally charged tale of grit, determination, and redemption.

When small-town Iowa native Maggie decides she wants outta her dead-end life working at a local diner, she packs up her bags for the bright lights (well more like neon-lights) of professional boxing in 1990s Detroit.

Maggalotting around town after being brutally beat down by one too many tough broads inside the ring, our heroine stumbles upon grizzled trainer Frankie 'The Plant' Dunn played with trademark Eastwood stoicism. Under his guidance - and more importantly love - Maggie slowly starts to find her footing both in & out of the squared circle.

As she racks up victory after convincing win against an array of formidable opponents (including a stunning performance from top billed co-star Morgan Freeman as trainer 'D'icky E.'), all eyes are now firmly fixed upon this Cinderella story waiting to be told. But with fame comes its fair share of pitfalls, and Maggie soon learns that becoming the best fighter in the world ain't easy - especially when your demons come calling loud & clear.

With a cast chock-full of Hollywood heavy-hitters (including an Oscar-nominated turn from 3-time Academy Award winner Margo Martindale as Frankie's on-again-off-again flame), Eastwood crafts a film that is at once both heart-wrenching and exhilaratingly entertaining. Shot almost entirely on location in & around his home state of Michigan, the cinematography by first-timer Roger Deakins is simply breathtaking - capturing every bloody blowout and tear-jerking moment with crystal clarity.

Clocking-in at a lean 113 minutes (barely over two hours including credits), 'Million Dollar Baby' never once feels like an endurance test. Instead, it gallops along at breakneck pace thanks in large part to Eastwood's assured direction which keeps things moving faster than any of its human leads ever could.

In short - if you haven't seen this boxing drama yet then get yourself down to your nearest cinema pronto! With performances from the likes of Swank & Eastwood that will leave even hardened cynics reaching for tissues galore, 'Million Dollar Baby' is a must-see motion picture experience not to be missed!
